What is up with these commencement speakers?

It's a scary time of the year but as much as we try to put it off and try to pretend like it not approaching, it is. The school year is coming to an end and that means graduation is coming up. A time to reflect and celebrate our completion of time at this university. Whether you have been here four years, five years or even if your a super super senior, the bottom line is that you have completed your degree at a top university and you deserve something special to send you off into the real world. Every year, top schools across the country hire popular, influential people to speak at graduation commencements. Michigan State should be no exception so why, of all the influential people who have graduated from this school, did our president ask Harlem Brundtland and Peter Raven to speak at our commencement? Im sorry if im a little off here but who in the world is Harlem Brundtland and Peter Raven. I mean I have read their individual backgrounds but does a Norwegian minister and a biodiversity specialist really jump out at you and sound like two people that are going to have you at the edge of your seat. I mean come on! If our four years at MSU not worthy of hearing an inspritational speech of someone who the majoirty of the student population actualy care about. For all the solid speakers this university have had in the past and all the intresting and inspritational people who have graduated from MSU, please consider better speakers because commencement is a celebration of hard work and deciation and it would be nice to see someone who appeal more to the students!
